Make a free video in three steps

Step 1: Open nokeep and switch the composer to video. There is no sign-up screen, no email to confirm and no card to enter.

Step 2: Describe one shot: a subject, one action, a setting and a camera move. “A fox runs through fresh snow toward the camera, slow tracking shot, morning light.” One shot works far better than a whole story.

Step 3: Generate. A clip takes longer than an image. When it is ready it plays in your chat, and you can download it.

What the free clip includes

One clip a day, made from text, five seconds long, at 768p, the same resolution as paid clips. Free clips come from a daily budget nokeep sets aside, so on a busy day they can run out; when they do, the composer says so and shows the price of a paid clip.

If you ask for a longer clip on the free tier, you get five seconds and the reply tells you why.

Image to video, and longer clips

Image-to-video is not part of the free clip. To animate a picture, attach it as the first frame and describe the motion; the clip then starts from that image. You can also attach several images as references, which keep a subject and style without being a frame.

Both use credits. A clip from text or from a first frame is 96 credits a second: 480 credits, about 48 cents, for five seconds, and $1.44 for fifteen. A clip from reference images is 960 credits, about $0.96, for five seconds. Clips run from five to fifteen seconds, and the price shows before you render. A failed render is not billed.

Credits start at $5, enough for about 10 five-second clips, and never expire. The Plus plan at $15 a month covers about 41 five-second clips and unlimited chat.

Where your clips are kept

Prompts and finished clips are saved in your browser, not on nokeep’s servers. nokeep keeps no archive of your videos and does not train on them. The clip is rendered on hosted infrastructure that receives your description and any image you attach, under zero-data-retention terms.

While a clip renders, nokeep tracks the job so it knows whether to charge you. Once the clip reaches your browser, it lives there. Clearing site data removes it, so download what you want to keep.

Limits

Videos of minors, sexual or misleading footage of real people, and illegal content are always blocked.

Fifteen seconds is the longest clip. Video engines fail more often than image engines: two subjects doing different things, a change of scene, or a fast camera move often give an unusable clip. Faces hold up better than hands, and text on screen is unreliable.
