How to chat with a PDF privately and for free
In nokeep you can attach a PDF to a chat and ask about it: summarize it, find a clause, explain a section, or list the key points. Attach up to 4 files of up to 25 MB each, with no account and 25 free messages a day. Your chats are saved in your browser.

What chatting with a PDF is useful for
Long documents hide the one paragraph you need. Attaching a PDF lets you ask questions in plain words instead of scrolling: what a contract says about notice periods, what a report concludes, which steps a manual gives for setup, or what a paper’s method actually was. You can also ask for a summary at the length you want, a list of deadlines, or an explanation of jargon.
The same attach button takes more than PDFs: images, EPUBs, Office files, CSV, text and code files are supported too, so you can compare a PDF with a spreadsheet or a second document in one chat.
Chat with a PDF in three steps
Step 1: Open the chat. In Chat mode, open the + menu next to the message box and choose Add photos & files, or drag the PDF onto the chat. You can attach up to 4 files at once, each up to 25 MB.
Step 2: Ask a specific question. Type what you want and send. “Summarize this” works, but “List every date and deadline in this lease” or “What does section 4 require from me?” gets a more useful answer.
Step 3: Follow up and check. Ask the next question in the same chat so the context carries over. When an answer matters, ask where in the document it comes from and read that part yourself.
Sample prompts you can paste
Prompt: “Summarize this PDF in five bullet points for someone who has not read it, then list anything I need to act on.”
Prompt: “List every date, deadline and amount of money mentioned in this document, with the section each one appears in.”
Prompt: “Explain section 3 in plain English, as if I have no background in this subject.”
Prompt: “What does this contract say about cancelling early? Quote the relevant sentences so I can check them.”
Prompt: “Compare these two PDFs and tell me what changed between the old and new version.”
Tips for good answers
Ask narrow questions and ask for quotes. A summary is a starting point; the exact wording in the document is what counts, especially for contracts, medical letters or financial statements. AI answers can miss or misread details, so verify anything important against the PDF itself and ask a qualified professional when the stakes are high.
For a set of documents you return to, use a project. A project can hold files (up to 25 MB each) that its chats can use, plus its own instructions. PDFs and Office files added there are sent once to pull out their text. After a page reload, files attached to a normal chat keep only their names, so attach them again to keep asking.
Privacy for your documents
PDFs are often the most private thing people share with an AI: contracts, payslips, medical results. There is no account to create, your chats are saved in this browser, and nokeep does not use your chats to train models. To answer, the document’s content and your question are sent for hosted processing; the privacy policy explains what is handled and which operational records are kept.
If a document contains details you do not need help with, such as account numbers, remove or black them out before attaching it.

Yes, within the daily allowance: 25 free chat messages a day, with no account or card. Credits and plans are available for more use; see the pricing page.
How big can the PDF be?
Up to 25 MB per file, and up to 4 files in one message.

Saved chats stay in your browser on this device. The document’s content is sent for hosted processing to answer you, and nokeep does not use your chats to train models.
