Does AI train on my conversations?
Some AI services may use consumer conversations for training; others exclude them or offer an opt-out. A model referring to something you just said is not evidence that it trained on you. Conversation context, saved memory, and model training are different mechanisms.

Four things commonly confused with training
A service can include earlier messages in the next request so the model can continue the conversation. Memory can save selected preferences and include them in future requests. Retention keeps records. Training updates model parameters using a dataset. Each needs its own policy and controls.
Check the product and setting you use
Read the policy for your actual consumer, business, education, or API product. Do not assume a company’s enterprise promises also cover a personal free account. OpenAI, for example, documents separate data controls and a training preference for consumer ChatGPT.
Check whether feedback submissions, shared conversations, connected tools, or uploaded files have exceptions. Turning off future training use is not automatically a request to delete past history, and deleting history is not proof that a completed training process has been reversed.
How nokeep handles the distinction
nokeep does not use your chats to train models. Its chat history and optional memory are stored in your browser. Relevant conversation or memory context is sent for hosted processing when needed to answer you. This is personalization through context, not training a model on your account.
The privacy page describes provider handling and the operational records needed to run the service. If your requirement is that prompts never leave your hardware, choose and verify an offline workflow instead of relying on a no-training label.

Can an AI remember me without training on me?
Yes. The app can include saved preferences or previous conversation text as context without changing model weights.
Does “not used for training” mean nothing is stored?
No. A provider can exclude training while retaining history or other records. Check both policies.
