Where Duck.ai is the better choice
Duck.ai removes your IP address before a prompt reaches the model provider, and DuckDuckGo publishes a per-provider table of what each provider has agreed to: zero data retention, no training, no resale, and the named exceptions. Two of its free models run inside a trusted execution environment, which DuckDuckGo says lets it verify by technical means that the host cannot read prompts or replies. nokeep relies on contracts with its providers and does not offer hardware-attested processing.
If you want the same chats on your phone and laptop, Duck.ai’s optional sync stores them end-to-end encrypted. nokeep has no sync at all. Duck.ai also offers voice chat, and a DuckDuckGo subscription bundles a VPN and identity-protection services with higher limits and larger models.
Where nokeep differs
nokeep is built for making things as well as asking things. Besides chat, it creates images and edits pictures you upload, makes short video clips from text, and keeps characters you can return to for an ongoing story. Free use covers 25 messages and 2 images a day, and edits count toward the images. One 5-second clip at 768p is free each day while the shared free supply lasts.
Chat has no refusal layer of ours on top of the models, though a model can still decline and illegal content is always blocked.
What both get right, and what neither can promise
Both keep saved conversations on your device rather than in a cloud account, and both say your chats are not used to train models. That also means clearing browser data can erase them, so export anything you want to keep.
Neither runs the model on your device. A hosted model still has to receive your prompt to answer it, and someone with access to your unlocked browser can read saved chats. Leave out details the task does not need, whichever you use.
