What can make an AI response restricted?

A model learns response behavior during training. System instructions, provider rules, and input or output checks can add further restrictions. Two services using a similar model can therefore behave differently.

A service saying it adds no moderation layer is describing the part it controls. The model can still refuse, misunderstand context, or generate an unreliable answer. You cannot determine the exact cause of a refusal from its wording alone.

Private and uncensored are separate choices

An unrestricted assistant could store all your messages. A filtered assistant could have strong privacy protections. Evaluate account requirements, saved history, provider retention, and training controls separately from response behavior.

Likewise, removing a restriction does not prove that an answer is correct. For consequential decisions, check the evidence and use an appropriate expert rather than treating confidence as accuracy.

How to compare services on your own tasks

Choose a few ordinary prompts that represent what you want to do: a fictional scene, a sensitive but legitimate question, and an image description. Compare relevance, consistency, editing controls, and whether the response stays within the requested context.

Read the current product rules and limits. A free message cap, a model refusal, a paid feature, and a requirement to create an account are different restrictions. Decide which matters to your workflow before paying.

Images and video: image generation, photo editing and short video do not refuse ordinary prompts by keyword. Pictures and clips are saved in your browser, not on our servers.

What is always blocked: anything involving minors, sexualised or non-consensual content of real, identifiable people, and anything illegal. No plan or setting lifts these rules. The terms set them out in full, and individual models still have their own limits.

Saved chats and memory live in your browser, with no server copy of chat history. Prompts and relevant context still travel to hosted inference providers under no-retention agreements. Usage and payment records are handled as described in the privacy policy.
