Alternative

A Proton Lumo alternative with no account at all

Proton Lumo is a serious privacy product built the Proton way — encrypted, Swiss-hosted, and tied to a Proton account. nokeep takes the same posture on data and removes the account entirely, then declines to add a moderation layer on top of the model.

Proton has earned its reputation, and if you already live inside their ecosystem, Lumo fits it neatly. The two reasons people look elsewhere are structural rather than doubts about Proton.

The account is the point of difference

Lumo is built around a Proton account, because that is what makes encrypted chat history possible — your conversations are saved, and saved securely. That is a genuine feature, and it is the opposite of what a no-account product can offer.

It is also an identity. Encrypted history is still history: it exists, it is tied to an account, and it survives you closing the tab. nokeep's position is that the safest record is the one never created, which means giving up saved history entirely — a real trade, not a free win.

And the filtering

Lumo applies a content policy. nokeep adds no moderation layer between you and the engine, which matters for the medical, legal, fiction and roleplay prompts that mainstream assistants deflect.

Both are free to start: 10 free messages and 2 free images a day, no card and no sign-up here, no card and no sign-up, with credits from $5 if you want more.

Asked before you asked

Is Proton Lumo good?

Yes. It is a well-built product from a company with a real privacy record, and if you want encrypted conversations you can come back to, it does something nokeep deliberately does not.

Why would I want no history at all?

Because history is the thing that can be subpoenaed, breached or repurposed. If you would rather the conversation simply not exist afterwards, saved history — however well encrypted — is the wrong shape.

Does nokeep encrypt my chats?

They travel over TLS like anything else, and then they are dropped rather than stored. There is nothing at rest to encrypt, which is the stronger position.

Free every day
