How does memory work?

As you chat, nokeep notes lasting details, like your work or how you like answers. The list is saved in this browser on this device.

To decide what to keep and what to recall, your messages are read by nokeep’s server and the model answering you. Nothing from that is stored on our side. When you send a message, the memory lines that matter to it travel with it to the model.

How do I see or change what it remembers?

  1. Open account rowthen Settingsthen Memory. The account row is at the bottom of the sidebar.
  2. Edit or forget any line, mark it sensitive, or turn it off. Use Add a memory to write one yourself.

Import and Export move your memory as a nokeep-memory.json file. Clear memorythen Forget everything deletes it all.

How do I turn memory off?

  1. Everywhere: in account rowthen Settingsthen Memory, turn off Remember across chats. The list is kept but not read or added to.
  2. For one chat: in the chat header, open Morethen Memory for this chat and turn it off.
  3. For one conversation: use a Temporary chat, which reads no memory.

A project set to Its own memory keeps its memory apart from yours in both directions. Character chats never go into your memory.
