Photo to anime

Turn a photo into anime, a cartoon or a painting

Add a photo and it comes back drawn: the same people, the same place. 2 free a day, no account.

Each restyle is an edit: free for 2 pictures a day, then 100 credits, about 10 cents. No account, no email. Your photo goes to the model to make this and is not kept on our servers. The result is saved in your browser.

  1. 01Add a photo
  2. 02Pick a style, or leave it on anime
  3. 03The same scene, drawn

Add a photo and nokeep redraws it as a hand-drawn anime scene, keeping the same people, clothes and composition; or name another style, such as watercolour, comic book or oil painting. Each restyle counts as one of the 2 free pictures a day, with no account.

How do I turn a photo into anime?

Step 1: Add the photo: a portrait, a group, a pet or a street all work.

Step 2: Leave the field empty for anime, or name the style you want: “watercolour”, “90s cartoon”, “comic book”, “oil painting”, “pixel art”, “storybook illustration”.

Step 3: Open it in nokeep and send. The drawn version comes back beside the photo in a few seconds. Try another style on the same photo, or edit the result again.

Which styles can I ask for?

Anything you can name in a few words. Anime is the default: clean line art, soft cel shading, a painted background. Popular alternatives are watercolour, gouache, oil painting, charcoal sketch, comic book with ink and halftone, flat vector cartoon, clay figure and pixel art.

Describe the look rather than name a studio or an artist: “soft pastel anime with a hazy summer sky” gives a clearer picture than a title, and the result is your own.

Will it still look like the people in the photo?

The instruction asks to keep the same people, faces, clothes, pose and objects, and the layout of the photo stays. A drawing simplifies faces by nature, so expect a likeness rather than a copy: hair, glasses, clothes and expression carry most of it.

Small text such as signs and shirt prints is usually redrawn as shapes. Busy group photos come out best when each face is reasonably large in the frame.

What it costs, and what happens to the photo

A restyle is an edit: it shares the 2 free pictures a day, then costs 100 credits, about 10 cents. Make the drawn scene move for 500 credits per 5 seconds.

The photo and the result are saved in your browser, not on nokeep’s servers, and processed under zero-data-retention terms. Turn only photos you have the right to use into art.
