Perplexity is a search engine wearing a chat interface, and like any search engine it builds a history — your queries, stored against an account, which for research into health, legal trouble or anything personal is the most revealing log you can leave anywhere.
Perplexity is very good at what it does. Cited answers with live sources are a genuinely better shape than a model guessing from training data, and nokeep does not replace that.
Why a search history is worse than a chat history
What people search is more revealing than what they say. A conversation is composed; a search is the unguarded question asked before you have decided what you think.
Stored against an account, that history is the same class of record that has been subpoenaed, breached and repurposed in every other search product for twenty years. The AI wrapper does not change the shape of it.
When to use which
For research where you want live sources and citations, use Perplexity — it is the right tool and nokeep has no equivalent.
For the questions you would rather not have on file anywhere, nokeep keeps nothing and asks for no account. The trade is that answers come from the model rather than from cited live sources.

There is a limited logged-out mode. Full features, history and higher limits require signing in.
Does Perplexity keep my searches?
Yes, as a research history tied to your account, with controls to delete threads. Deletion removes them from your view on the usual retention schedule.
What does nokeep give up here?
Live web search with citations. If sourcing is the point of your query, Perplexity is the better tool.
