Alternative
A Claude alternative for when careful becomes the problem
Claude is the most cautious of the frontier assistants by deliberate design, and that caution is why people look for an alternative: it hedges on medical specifics, adds disclaimers to legal questions about your own situation, and pulls fiction back toward safety. nokeep adds no moderation layer and asks for no account.
Claude is an excellent model — genuinely good at long documents, careful reasoning and writing. Nothing here disputes that. The mismatch is narrower: caution tuned for the median case becomes friction when your case is not the median one.
Where the caution bites
Clinical specifics. A question about dosage or interaction is answered in generalities with advice to consult a professional — reasonable for a stranger, useless if you are the professional.
Your own legal situation. The more concrete the question, the more the answer retreats toward "consult a lawyer".
Fiction with weight. Antagonists, addiction, violence and grief are all normal in serious writing, and all reliably soften.
And every conversation sits under an account, stored, with the usual training defaults on the consumer tier.
What nokeep does differently
No moderation layer of ours between you and the engine, no added system prompt telling it to hedge, no account, and nothing kept once the answer is sent.
What you lose is Claude itself — its particular quality on long, hard reasoning tasks. If that is what you came for, no alternative substitutes for it, and you should stay.
| Claude | nokeep | |
|---|---|---|
| Account required | Yes | No |
| Conversation stored | Yes | No |
| Moderation layer | Yes, deliberately strong | None added |
| Medical / legal specifics | Hedged | Answered directly |
| Long-document reasoning | Excellent | Good, not the reason to come |
Asked before you asked
Why does Claude refuse so much?
It is trained and instructed toward caution more strongly than its peers. That is a defensible product decision, and it makes it a poor fit for professional or creative work that needs specifics.
Can I make Claude less cautious with prompting?
Somewhat, briefly. You spend the model’s attention maintaining the framing instead of on the question, and the account still recorded the exchange.
Is nokeep as good as Claude at reasoning?
On the hardest long-form reasoning, no. On answering an ordinary question frankly without an account or a stored record, that is what it is for.
