Alternative
A Meta AI alternative that is not inside your social account
Meta AI is built into WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, which means it runs on the account that carries your real name, your photos and everyone you know — the single most identifying profile most people have.
The convenience is genuine: it is already there, in an app you already use, with nothing to install. That is also the problem.
Why this one is different
Other assistants attach conversations to an account you created for that purpose. Meta AI attaches them to your social graph — a profile built over years, tied to your real identity, and already used for advertising.
Meta’s stated approach to using interactions for improving its products is broad, and the surrounding platform is the most sophisticated advertising system ever built. Questions asked there land in the same place as everything else it knows about you.
The alternative
nokeep has no account and no profile of any kind, so there is nothing for a question to be joined to. Conversations end when the tab closes, and no moderation layer is added.
What you give up is the convenience of it already being in the app you have open, which is a real cost and the reason most people will keep using it anyway.
| Meta AI | nokeep | |
|---|---|---|
| Account required | Yes — your social account | No |
| Attached to real identity | Usually, by design | Nothing to attach |
| Joined to advertising profile | Same platform | No profile exists |
| Already in an app you use | Yes | No |
Asked before you asked
Can I use Meta AI without a Facebook or Instagram account?
It is reached through Meta’s apps, so in practice it needs one of their accounts. That is the objection rather than a technicality.
Does Meta use my AI chats for ads?
Meta’s terms allow broad use of interactions to improve and personalise its services. Given the platform’s advertising model, assume the connection rather than hoping against it.
Is WhatsApp encryption relevant here?
Message encryption protects conversations between people. When you message the assistant, the assistant is the recipient — encryption in transit does not stop the destination from processing and retaining it.
