How do I use AI anonymously?
Use a service that requires no account, pay in a way that does not create one, and accept that your network still sees the connection — in that order, because an account defeats everything else on the list.
In order of what actually matters
Drop the account. This is ninety per cent of it. Without one there is no identity for the conversation to be recorded against, and every other measure is guarding a door in a wall that is already open.
Check what is stored. No account plus stored conversations still leaves a body of text that can be breached or subpoenaed, even if it is harder to attribute.
Check the provider behind it. A front end cannot promise more than its supplier agreed to, and this is where most anonymity claims quietly fail.
Then the network. A VPN or Tor changes what your ISP and the service see about where you came from. Useful — and last, because it does nothing about an account you signed into.
Where attempts usually leak
Payment. The most common one: no account to chat, then an email at checkout, and the two are now linked. nokeep issues a claim key rather than a profile, so paying never introduces an identity.
Content. The strongest technical setup does not help if you type your full name and address into the prompt. The model does not need them for most questions.
Reuse. Logging into the same service later with an account connects the anonymous sessions to the identified one.

Is a VPN enough to use AI anonymously?
No. It hides the network path. If you are signed into an account, the account identifies you regardless of where the packets appeared to come from.
Does the service still see my IP address?
It has to, to answer you. What matters is whether it is stored alongside your conversation. Here it is used for rate limiting and not written against anything.
Can I be anonymous and still pay?
Yes. Paying returns a claim key, not a profile — no email, no password. Your card issuer knows you bought something; the AI service never learns who you are.
